Early tree care is vital to ensuring that each tree we plant becomes a healthy, safe, and attractive mature tree. It is also more cost effective than correcting large problems on a large tree! Proper care and watering for the first 3 years that the tree is in the ground is critical to the long term health of the tree. Richmond Trees checks on trees during those first 3 years.
You can join us on monthly community tree care events that take place the third Sunday of each month from 9 am – noon. We meet at Burg Park at 30th Street and Clinton Avenue. You can also sign up for email updates at email@example.com.
During tree care events we may weed, mulch, remove stakes from older trees, and remind residents to weed and water. Trained volunteers may also do some light structural pruning that is important for growing a strong, safe tree.
No experience is required to participate. Just bring gloves and your favorite weeding tool—and we promise you’ll have fun and contribute to the health of our urban forest.
“To cherish what remains of the Earth and foster its renewal is our only legitimate hope of survival.” ~ Wendell Berry
