Richmond Trees believes that the work of greening a city is also about building community and we’re proud of our partnerships with other organizations in Richmond. We’re also grateful to our supporters, the groups that have awarded grants to support our work, local businesses who donate to our fundraising, and volunteers who share their valuable time and expertise.
Richmond Trees is proud to be a project of Earth Island Institute. Since 1982, Earth Island Institute has worked as a fiscal sponsor for grassroots environmental organizations. By taking care of the administrative aspects of running a non-profit, their support allows our volunteer leadership to focus on the work of planting and caring for trees.
California ReLeaf works statewide to promote alliances among community-based groups, individuals, industry and government agencies, encouraging each to contribute to the livability of our cities and the protection of our environment by planting and caring for trees. Richmond Trees received a $10,000 grant from California ReLeaf in 2012.
“An attractive neighborhood enhanced by the natural beauty of trees sends a message that the people who live there care and are engaged with what’s going on around them. This helps decrease crime and improves safety for all residents.” ~ Chris Magnus, Former Richmond Police Chief
